Bluetooth Low Energy
The TrueBike uses Bluetooth Low Energy, or BLE for short.
If your device has built-in bluetooth connectivity, it will most likely work perfectly fine with the TrueBike.
Some USB Bluetooth adapters lack this BLE connectivity however, so it might be a good idea to check with the manufacturer of your adapter.
ANT+
The TrueBike is also equipped with ANT+. This is often found on sports-specific watches or bike computers, but rarely on laptops and phones. To use this feature on those devices, you'll need an ANT+ dongle.
Should I use ANT+ or BLE?
In general, ANT+ provides a more stable connection. On top of that it's capable of pairing with multiple devices simultaneously. This means you can use a cycling computer while connected to a program like Zwift.
Bluetooth has the advantage when it comes to accessibility. Nearly all laptops and phones have integrated BLE receivers, so you can start cycling right out of the box, no adapters needed.
